Introducing our new coach - Paddy Watts

We are delighted to announce the appointment of new coach Paddy Watts. As well as being level 2 (soon to be level 3) qualified, Paddy brings with him an infectious enthusiasm for tennis. Paddy is committed to making tennis fun and engaging for members.

Through expanding coaching squads and designing new coaching programmes, he will be helping our younger members develop into future squad players. Adult coaching will also be revamped to be more tailored to the individual needs of our members, ensuring all tennis players have the opportunity to improve their game. Paddy also plans to play for our teams when possible, which will be great experience for our squad members.

More details on coaching programmes will be published through the club website, on our noticeboards and clubspark. Paddy is also available to offer Individual lessons to those interested.

Davis Cup comes to Downton

Davis Cup comes to Downton

On Saturday May 19th, we will be holding our annual free open day where anyone interested in finding out more about playing tennis is encouraged to come along and find out about the club and what it has to offer.

This year the open day will be extra special as it will combine with the official opening of our 3 newly re-surfaced outdoor courts which will also now be disabled access friendly.

We are delighted to announce that 2 ex Davis Cup players will be joining us and will spend the whole day coaching.

Court Resurfacing

Court Resurfacing

After 22 years of constant use the time has come to resurface our courts. DTC members have worked hard in recent years to accumulate the funds required to go ahead with a major investment requiring in excess of £30,000. With the help of Downton Parish Council, the Southern Area board of the County Council and a grant from Persimmion Homes (builders of the new housing development on Wick Lane) the required target was met and work is set to commence on 12th March, to be completed in early May.
